Media pop-up

What is the Media Pop Up Channel?

Using the media pop-up, you can make an image or video "pop-up" and appear on the player's screen to grab their immediate attention regardless of which channel their in. Many people use this to simulate breaking news stories.

Creating Media Pop Up Injects

1

Create an inject and add the media

Within the inject, click on "Please add video or image" to import it through your media library. Alternatively, drag and drop the media you want.

2

Settings to note:

Time: Select the amount of time that you want the image/video to stay on the screen. If you are attaching a video change the time at the bottom to the same time as the video. If you have a long video, you might choose to use a shorter duration so players aren't interrupted for the whole video.

For video pop-ups:

News ticker Text: This is text that scrolls across the bottom of a video, like a news ticker. You can use the toggle button to select the direction in which the banner moves (used for different languages that may read right to left instead of left to right)

Overlaid Image: Overlay an image on the video and set the start time and duration that you want the image on the screen.

Using the news ticket and overlaying an image on a video allows you to get greater use of "generic" video content by making it appear bespoke to an exercise. For example a video about a flood can now appear to be about a flood in this area or affecting these people.

FAQ's & Tips for Media Pop Up

Use the media pop-up sparingly to create spectacle! Remember your exercises should be participatory and the media pop-up interrupts the players current activity. Hence use it when you need to grab attention!

What happens when a media pop-up appears—does it stay on screen, or can players dismiss it?

The image/video will fill the players screen, they have the option to skip and therefore close the image/video otherwise it will stay on the screen for the time allocated.

What's the optimum aspect ratio?

The best aspect ratio is 16:9 for the primary media and for the overlay image
