Impersonation

Impersonation lets humans pretend to be personas. That is, human participants can assume a different identity in the exercise environment:

• the training audience can use impersonation to post from a company social media account

• EXCON players can role-play stakeholders and respond to the training audience

Impersonation and positions

Positions act as a link between personas and players.

When players are assigned a position, it allows them to impersonate any persona with that assigned position.

The image below shows the relation in practice:

1. the position assigned to the persona (persona library)

2. the position assigned to a player (teams table - in the Configuration area)

3. the position table showing all positions available (and which personas are impersonable with the position)

Adding impersonation

Select persona for impersonation

1. Go to the persona library and select intended persona

2. Select the "Positions that can impersonate this persona" drop-down

3. Select as many positions as needed (the positions that will impersonate this persona). If there are no positions in the drop-down, add a new position

Navigate to Configuration and edit teams

1. Assign the position to a player

2. Positions are also shown in Configuration for ease of reference

For Facilitators to impersonate, they will also need to log in as a player on the left-hand side of the Facilitator Dashboard (player view)

Bulk impersonation editing

If you have a large exercise it will be more convenient and faster to assign positions via a spreadsheet.

Select the spreadsheet menu

Click the spreadsheet icon and export the Persona Permissions sheet.

Add and assign positions

The column in the spreadsheet to alter is the Permissions column. Adding a position in this column will enable the player with the same permission to impersonate the persona.

Import the permissions sheet

Return to the spreadsheet menu and import the modified sheet.
